Following the successful first two editions of Heritage Languages Around the World, held at the University of Lisbon in 2022 and the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2024, we are pleased to announce the third international conference on Heritage Languages Around the World (HLAW), which will take place at the University of Stavanger from 12th to 14th of May 2027.

We invite submissions addressing any aspect of heritage language research. Topics include, but are not limited to:

• Linguistic properties of heritage languages in child and adult multilinguals
• Heritage language acquisition and development across the lifespan
• The role of input, exposure, and language use in heritage language development
• Cross-linguistic influence in heritage language speakers
• Heritage language maintenance, attrition, and revitalization
• Variation and change in heritage languages
• Research methods and methodological advances in heritage language research
• Understudied heritage languages and communities
• Heritage language literacy and education
• Family language policy and intergenerational language transmission
• Heritage language policies and multilingualism
• Language attitudes, identity, and belonging
• Heritage languages and the preservation of linguistic diversity

We particularly welcome research on understudied languages and communities, as well as work that expands the geographical, linguistic, theoretical, and methodological scope of heritage language research.
